The Skin Remembers explores memory as something physical, carried and preserved within material surfaces. The work combines layered textiles, fragments of printed text, wire mesh and distressed textures to evoke traces of protection, concealment and emotional residue. The folded fabric suggests both vulnerability and resistance, while the dark, worn surfaces resemble skin marked by time and experience. Rather then illustrating a specific narrative, the piece creates a space where memory appears fragmented, hidden and partially revealed. The materials interact as carriers of tension between fragility and endurance, intimacy and decay. Through assemblage and tactile construction, the work reflects on how personal histories remain embedded within the body and objects surrounding us. "The Skin remembers" invites viewers to engage with materiality not only visually, but emotionally and physically, through texture, absence and trace.
