Inspired by the dramatic and expressive features of the ancient Laocoon. Reinterpreting the classical model through a contemporary and deeply personal vision, the work explores the duality of human emotion and identity. The mask becomes a metaphor for the two dimensions of emotional experience: the external face we present to the world and the hidden inner reality. Melancholy, in this sense, is not represented as a single expression, but as a layered psychological state suspended between appearance and introspection. Through the contrast of surfaces, volumes, and expressions, Melancolia Mask transforms marble into an investigation of the human condition, where classical beauty and inner vulnerability coexist in a timeless dialogue.
