This painting depicts nuances and ambiguities which relate to all mothers who have lost a child through tragic circumstances, like those crossing on illegal boats and those dying in Gaza and Palestine. The bright colours create a striking paradox, sharply contradicting the tragedy of the event, to jolt the viewers morality and awareness of the apathy shown by politicians and media towards inhumane and cruel ideologies, permitted around the world. The superwoman powers are shown by the mother, lifting the body of her adult child effortlessly, like a feather. I have depicted the Pietà (Italian for 'pity' or 'compassion') or the "Lamentation" and "Deposition," which depicts the Virgin Mary cradling the dead body of Jesus after he is taken down from the cross, as a metaphoric connotation for all human loss of life.
