The Yield of the Rind

Inspired by the artist's cat, Lemon, this contemporary teapot references the bright release of oil and scent when a citrus rind is first broken. The understated exterior conceals hand-painted underglaze and sgraffito drawings that become visible only when the piece is tilted to pour. By placing the artwork beneath the curve, the act of pouring becomes a shared moment between the object and its user.
