Cuentada Balance

Cuentada Balance explores the principles of Kajukenbo and Balintawak, martial arts Naomi has practiced since the age of five. Cuentada, meaning "counter for counter," describes a continuous exchange in which every movement is a response to the one before it. Within Eskrima, the stick and blade function as extensions of the body. The vessel's elongated forms extend beyond its silhouette, while the unadorned raw clay remains at the center of the piece. The surface was finished with layered textured and crystallizing glazes, producing crystalline formations and a smoky, wood ash-like finish.
