The distressed bamboo, a primary tool of Balintawak, carries the trauma of sustained impact. Its organic cross-like grain patterns elicits a sense of structural sacrifice, by binding the fractured wood with crimson thread, the violent friction of combat is arrested and held in a state of quiet repair.
