Inspired by Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, this charcoal work, from the conceptual series “Inner Readings”, explores the dialogue between reason and emotion through two contrasting female presences. One figure is constructed through angular, architectural forms, suggesting restraint, structure, and introspection, while the other emerges through softer, flowing contours that evoke sensitivity and emotional openness.
Separated and connected by a window, the two characters inhabit a suspended interior space where time seems to slow. The clock becomes a subtle symbol of waiting, memory, and the silent passage of life. Rather than illustrating the novel directly, the artwork translates its psychological tension into a visual language of form, atmosphere, and silence.
The unfinished spaces, transparent layers, and dissolving contours create a sense of fragility, inviting the viewer into an intimate reflection on the balance between thought and feeling.
