Ans Verdijk explores spaces in which imaginary events take place — worlds situated between architecture, imagination, and a logic still in the process of emerging. Her sculptures appear as temporary inhabitants of these spaces: forms moving between construction and transformation, presence and possibility.
By creating sculptures or reworking existing forms, Verdijk constructs situations in which objects seem to operate according to their own physics. Attributes, directions, and movements drift through space in an unpredictable choreography. Potential collisions emerge, shift, and resolve themselves into new constellations.
Her work opens up a Dadaist world of imagination in which architecture is not static, but a living field of potential, chance, and transformation — a space where the impossible temporarily behaves as though it were self-evident.
