Schubert D 935 Revelation

I cannot tell what came over me. The moment I heard Schubert's Impromptu D 935, I was instantly transported back to my early childhood. I pictured myself learning to write stroke by stroke and drawing little ducklings on the classroom blackboard — the floodgates of memory burst open all at once.

Schubert’s musical world is filled with innocence, warmth, romance and poignant beauty. It is tender, nostalgic and pure of heart. My body swayed involuntarily to the melody, just like a toddling child taking unsteady steps.

Recalling the simple happiness of my early years, surrounded by my parents’ love, warm tears welled up in my eyes. I am grateful to the great Schubert for letting me reconnect with my inner child. I depicted those blackboard memories in freehand Chinese calligraphy, engaging in a heartfelt dialogue with my younger self.
