My intention was to bring Jan Vermeer's iconic Girl with a Pearl Earring into the present day. Not only has the girl changed, but so too has the world surrounding her. Through a combination of impressionistic and expressionistic approaches, I seek to capture light, atmosphere, emotion, and the fragmented dynamism of contemporary life.
Using Google Gemini, I generated a series of initial visual concepts. Drawing inspiration from these preparatory studies, I subsequently translated the image into an oil painting characterized by vibrant colours and striking contrasts.
