Free-motion embroidered textile sculpture
Bizarium is a biomimetic textile sculpture created through free-motion embroidery as a method of spatial construction. Composed entirely of machine-stitched thread, the work transforms embroidery from a flat decorative technique into a self-supporting sculptural structure.
The sculpture investigates the growth patterns and organizational principles found in living systems. Inspired by fungal networks, lichens, coral formations, and plant morphologies, it does not imitate specific organisms but rather explores the logic of branching, repetition, adaptation, and continuous transformation characteristic of natural processes.
Thousands of layered stitches generate a porous architectural body that exists between textile, sculpture, and organic form. The work deliberately preserves irregularities, variations in density, and traces of manual intervention, emphasizing the relationship between material agency and biological growth.
Situated at the intersection of textile art, biomimicry, and contemporary sculpture, Bizarium examines the potential of embroidery as a generative medium capable of producing autonomous spatial organisms and alternative forms of material architecture.
