Anastasia

A standing nude rendered in layered glaze on dark red stoneware. Two glazes were applied to bisque stoneware tiles in overlapping layers then fired to cone 6 oxidation to create the values and overall composition. Pale blues and creamy whites pool and break over the surface, giving the skin a mottled, mineral quality. The figure floats clear of any setting, isolated against the bare stone, her form permanently held in glaze.
