Returning to the biomorphic silhouette of the marine ascidian, I sought to capture the contrasting forces of darkness and light found in the abyss. The deep, immersive blue and black tones of the sculpture evoke the vast, mysterious mass of sea water, while the vibrant yellow textured nodules symbolize beams of sunlight piercing through the dense aquatic layers.
For me, this piece is about vital energy thriving in the most unreachable places. The asymmetrical, dual-siphoned form functions as a living vessel, capturing a single, frozen moment of marine evolution. By juxtaposing the rough, dark skin of the object with bright, glowing points of relief, I want to immerse the viewer into a contemplative state—evoking the serene, silent power of the underwater world and the universal connection between light, water, and organic form.
This work can serve both as a functional object — a vessel for flowers — and as an independent art piece, inviting quiet reflection and emotional connection.
