Installation: Upcycled Wheel – Earth's Epochs
Earth's Epochs is a subjective chronicle of various theories of the geological timelines of earth and humanity. On Side A, various geological ages are noted in a subjective manner, with huge leaps in the evolution of human beings. The fact that it's written on a slice of wood, also reflects that a tree can have growth and memory rings.
On Side B, the Four Ages of Man from Indian and Greek myths are written, along with lost, hidden or fictional lands from various traditions of the world, including the Tibetan, Irish, Norse, and Maori myths. Perhaps these ages, lands and myths didn't exist, but they are rooted in the human psyche. There is a Golden Age in almost all myths of the world and that can inspire us to do our best. Some people believe that the Earth is a living, sentient being, and as such she might have memories that are not accessible to the average human being. However, these myths can serve to broaden our understanding of the self, consciousness, and expand our imagination to conceive of other possible ways of living and being. Most myths are allegorical in nature, providing deeper insights into human nature and our place in the world and in the cosmos.
This 3D Art Object ties together the themes of ecological awareness and time related theories present in this installation.
Please note: I didn't create the piece of wood, or the metallic holders on either side. I've just recycled them to create this 3D Art Object.
All works submitted are part of my installation project: Upcycled Wheel.
It would be great if this installation could be placed inside the main building, preferably on the ground floor.
