This diptych depicts two halves of the same existence stand in contrast—light and shadow, warmth and decay, desire and emptiness. The surface whispers of prosperity, of passion, of fleeting vibrance, yet just beyond that facade, something darker looms. This diptych does not offer a separation of forces but rather their inseparability. A world where beauty and dissolution are intertwined, where prosperity carries the weight of its own impermanence.

My unconventional use of watercolor and Chinese calligraphic strokes deepens this dialogue between control and surrender. Pigments flow and fracture, layering veils of texture that obscure yet reveal. The strokes—some bold, some barely perceptible—echo the way existence is written moment by moment, dissolving as soon as it is formed. This painting does not ask the viewer to choose between light or darkness but rather to step into the space between, to witness both without resistance, and to embrace the ever-shifting nature of reality.
