Celestial Tides serves as a visual nexus for practice-based research into Interconnectedness and Entanglement. Drawing upon a multidisciplinary framework bridging gravitational dynamics, cosmic rhythm, and Karen Barad’s Agential Realism, the work investigates the cyclical interplay between cosmic forces and earthly flows.
Across an eight-part sequential series depicting lunar phases in gold leaf, the artwork visualizes how distant celestial bodies exert an inescapable gravitational pull on terrestrial bodies. Through a methodology of "making-with" elemental building blocks from the Periodic Table, the piece collapses the distance between the macro-cosmic and the intimate. The gold-leafed crescents and spheres trace not merely the passage of light and shadow, but an active, intra-acting matrix of gravitational entanglement—reminding us that the rhythmic tides of our oceans and bodies are continuously orchestrated by cosmic phenomena. Celestial Tides invites a meditation on relational existence, illuminating how elemental matter remains bound in a perpetual, dynamic dance with the cosmos.
