Paper Boat II

Paper Boat II” is a déja vuof “Paper Boat I,” a simulacrum immobilized precariously in space and time by
the fragile bubble containing the paper boat, immobilizing it. The bubble protects the boat by shielding it
from the elements of time, freezing a place eternally within a specificera. This is a metaphor for those places
that remain unchanged to the people who left them, people who have migrated to new possibilities, to a
hopeful future. No matter how often or infrequently one goes back, andno matterhow much things change
or remain the same, one’s memories compare the place that it now is with that which was frozen in time on
the day they left their once-upon-a-time home behind.
