‘Adam & Eve’ in ‘A&E’

Painting on a stretched wooden canvas. This is a composition of a couple who metaphorically represent the biblical Adam and Eve but they are addicted to abuse of misusing substances and are in the Accident and Emergency department in hospital. Highlighting a proportion of our dysfunctional society a contradiction to the biblical expectations of humanity. This work also makes historical referential connections to the works of William Hogarth. The consequences of lived trauma usually perpetuated through a vicious cycle of parental neglect and abuse. A story of humanity from the beginnings of time to our present days. The scene is set satirically but ironically spits truth to this depiction as reflected in the title of this subject.
