This work explores the tension between perception and projection through the human face, which in my practice functions as a threshold between interior and exterior realities. The eye, historically one of the most archaic symbols in human culture, is approached not merely as an organ of sight but as a liminal site where perception and consciousness intersect.

In the painting the gaze appears unstable, partially interrupted by gestural marks that traverse the surface. These marks are traces of a direct negotiation between the body and the pictorial space, where the gesture becomes an index of presence and tension.

The face activates a projective mechanism: recognition invites the viewer to seek a reciprocal gaze, yet its disruption destabilizes that possibility. In this way the observer is implicated in the image, and perception folds back onto itself, forcing consciousness to confront its own act of observation.
