The Reckoning is part of my latest series of paintings that are exploring the theme of death. Not the impact on others of death but the actual action of death itself. The moment that the heart stops, the last breath has been breathed when the soul, DNA, the essence of the person leaves the body and joins the universe. Those parts that rejoin the earth and the people who have gone before. These paintings are not meant to be sad but more of an exploration of something that eventually affects us all
