By removing the pieces of a blank jigsaw puzzle and filling the remaining space, I hope to reveal underlying complexities of the modern world. Drawing on the puzzle’s base rather than the pieces expresses a shift from relying on given answers toward creating our own questions. Technology optimizes for patterns; humans are challenged to think beyond them. Few things are truly transparent, so it sometimes becomes necessary to remove the surface layer to understand something’s true nature. The discrepancy between what we hope to build and what we build upon appears as a missing link in understanding not only our individual actions, but those loosely agreed upon by human civilization.
I chose not to align the work straight within the frame to reflect the inherent instability of modernity. The slight tilt asks what “correctness” and “order” really mean across systems and cultures. Rather than perfect alignment, it expresses the human will to find meaning within imperfection.
