The pilgrimage

This painting was originally a photo taken by the American photographer Alex Webb in the year 1984. It was taken at the waterfall Saut d'eau near the village of Ville-Bonheur on Haiti. Thousands of pilgrims gather here annually in the month of July for the festival of the Virgin of Mount Carmel, in which religious and voodoo traditions come together. I made my own (outsider) version of it!
