Suburban Portraits: Pilgrimage

This work is the latest in a series I have been doing, titled "Suburban Portraits". Leaving their desolate dwellings, a group of people are heading towards a rocky sanctuary, evoking remote mountainous monasteries and temples. The water from which it rises symbolises the regenerative potential of their journey, reminiscent of Shakespeare's 'Death by Water' in his play 'The Tempest'.
