Italiano: L’opera raffigura la Vergine Maria nel silenzio del dolore dopo la perdita. Questa opera nasce dalla necessità di indagare la perdita come stato interiore, dove il sacro si estende a una dimensione universale e profondamente umana.
La figura è frontale ma con lo sguardo rivolto verso il basso: Maria non guarda lo spettatore, è chiusa in una dimensione interiore. Le mani giunte sul grembo non evocano una preghiera esplicita, ma una sospensione, quasi un’attesa muta.
Seduta tra le rocce, la figura è privata di ogni idealizzazione: Maria appare umanissima, terrestre, pesante, radicata nel dolore. Il volto emerge con delicatezza dal buio e la pelle chiara diventa il punto di massima vulnerabilità. Gli occhi non suggeriscono soltanto dolore, ma anche accettazione e resa. This work is born from the need to investigate loss as an inner state, where the sacred extends to a universal and profoundly human dimension. The figure is frontal but with her gaze directed downward: Mary does not look at the viewer, she is enclosed in an inner dimension. Her hands folded in her lap do not evoke an explicit prayer, but a suspension — almost a mute waiting. Seated among rocks, the figure is stripped of all idealisation: Mary appears deeply human, earthly, heavy, rooted in pain. The face emerges gently from the darkness and the fair skin becomes the point of maximum vulnerability. The eyes suggest not only pain, but also acceptance and surrender. In the background, a crepuscular light introduces a subtle
tension toward hope — the silent waiting for a day that has yet to come.
