The About Being Nomad series explores how physical travel alters the human perception of space and memory, using the architectural frame of an airplane window to reconfigure high-altitude landscapes. Originating from a three-step process—mid-flight photography, preliminary structural sketching, and secondary studio execution—the work translates the immediate experience of travel into a formal dialogue between sweeping, atmospheric color fields and hard-edged geometric structures.

In Earth Mosaic, this approach investigates the cartographic rhythm of land seen from high altitude, translating the ground below into an intricate, multi-layered tapestry of agricultural and geographical geometry. Executed in the studio through layered oil glazes, the composition alternates between hard-edged, patterned interpretations of fields—rendered in rich teals, ochres, and deep earth tones—and soft atmospheric gradients above. Held within the strict architectural boundary of the window frame, the painting reconfigures the earth’s surface into a structural study of spatial detachment, memory, and territorial mapping.
