I was inspired by celebrated Croatian-Italian Renaissance sculptor Franjo Vranjanin, brother of architect Lucijan Vranjanin, born in Vrana near Zadar and well-known in Italy as Francesco Laurana or Francesco de la Vrana and his artwork Bust of a Woman” ca. 1470–1480, a polychrome marble sculpture in Louvre Museum, Paris, France. I painted Angel using all acrylic paints, the background was done with crackle bronze paint effect. Her cloak has golden ornaments. This is a portrait of quietude and grace. The piece depicts the bust of a young woman as a bridge to the spiritual realm. Through soft light and intentional brushwork, Angel is inviting the viewer to contemplate the unseen which is less about a celestial being and more about the innate sanctity found within the human spirit.
