Apis Mater – Inter somnia et memoriam

Inter Somnia et Memoriam is part of Apis Mater, a series of eight photographic collages (24 × 33 cm) exploring the themes of memory and transmission. The works are based on vintage photographs re-photographed in 2025, printed on 160 gsm cardstock, and transferred by hand using water onto 340 gsm cotton watercolor paper. Water partially dissolves the original image, making it as fragile and unstable as the memories of a distant childhood.

These transferred images are combined with collages of AI-generated imagery. Cotton threads run through the works as signs of connection and wound. Prints of small bees and Adrimel—a solution made from honey and gold acrylic paint—evoke the quiet labor of care and nourishment. Gold dust symbolizes what remains after loss.
