"Between Habilis and Sapiens" is a conceptual photographic diptych centered on the question of human evolution in the 21st century. The title references the human primates Homo habilis and Homo sapiens, situating the work within a symbolic interval between instinct and reason.
The first image presents a solitary figure within a geometric urban space. Photographed at the Berlin Wall, a site marked by division, the scene evokes an archaic mode of thought associated with Homo habilis.
The second image depicts a human figure covered in labels, with a direct gaze and a restrained posture. The composition addresses social uniformity through commercial mechanisms, suggesting the ordering and classification of the human being into a system of assigned value.
The work brings forward the question of authenticity and the role of rational awareness within contemporary society.
