This unique ceramic sculpture is a profound exploration of biomorphic forms, situated at the intersection of marine biology and human anatomy. Inspired by the mysterious inhabitants of the ocean depths—ascidians—I wanted the piece to visually transform into the likeness of a living, beating heart.
To me, this artwork embodies the fundamental unity of all living things. The duality of the image—simultaneously a marine organism and an anatomical heart study—invites the observer to reflect on the fragility of life and the inextricable bond between humanity and the ocean. It serves as a visual metaphor for our shared origins and shared vulnerabilities.

Materials and Technique.
Chamotte clay, glazes, pigments, and metal oxides.
The object is entirely crafted using the hand-building technique, which allowed me to achieve a complex, asymmetrical shape featuring two distinct siphons that resemble human aortas. The expressive surface is covered with intricate painting using pigments and oxides, layered to create the organic effect of a delicate capillary network.
