This drawing was born from a walk through the historic district of Villanova. The bell tower of the Church of San Giacomo does not reveal itself immediately: it appears unexpectedly, at the end of a sequence of narrow streets and small squares that conceal its presence. The route, unfolding on a horizontal plane, is suddenly interrupted by a strong vertical tension that naturally draws the eye upward.
At night, this perception becomes even stronger. Artificial light does not describe the architecture in detail but reveals only its essential forms. Against the dark sky, the bell tower acquires a quiet presence, becoming the natural center of gravity of the viewer's gaze.
Villanova invites slow walking. Its intimate streets, unexpected openings, and shifting perspectives allow the city to reveal itself gradually, turning an ordinary walk into a discovery.
