The Mistral is born far away. It crosses the Rhône Valley, sweeps over the Gulf of Lion and reaches Sardinia, where the Campidano plain strengthens its force before driving it toward Cagliari. On winter nights it empties the streets, carries away the dampness and seems to strip away everything nonessential.

As the wind sweeps through Stampace, sounds fade, people become scarce and the architecture reveals its simplest form. Like graphite on paper, the Mistral restores the city to its most essential face.
