Chalco

Chalco was born from an extraordinary gift: the wings of a Chalcosoma beetle, entrusted to me by an entomologist. Their remarkable beauty inspired the creation of this delicate figure. Once a protective shield, these wings now catch the light, becoming a symbol of transformation and freedom.

The winged figure stands upon a piece of arbutus wood from the coast of British Columbia, whose graceful curves naturally embrace the form. Perched in quiet poise, Chalco remains rooted to the earth while reaching toward the sky.
