I used translucent watercolor washes and precise detailing to keep the rhythms lively while the crowd blurs into pale suggestion, placing the focus squarely on costume, gesture and performance. The composition balances playful energy with careful observation — the tilt of a head, the tension in an arm, the flash of sequins — all small clues to the larger tradition of St. Croix’s carnival.
