This work draws on the figure from Tiepolo’s Apollo Pursuing Daphne. In the original myth, Daphne is pursued and transformed in order to escape possession.
Here, the pursuer is removed.
In place of Apollo are birds - physical, insistent, unresolved. They function as forces rather than characters.
The figure does not flee or transform. She remains present within pressure, negotiating what surrounds her through continuous adjustment.
There is no triumph and no defeat.
Only dealing.
