Seeds carry within them the many miracles of life—its memories, histories, knowns and unknowns. When dill goes to seed, it abandons its familiar green form and transforms into something entirely different, as if becoming another plant altogether. From its delicate structures emerge seeds that contain the potential for future lives. Dispersed by the wind, they travel beyond sight and intention. There is no way of knowing when, where, or under what conditions a seed will awaken again. It may remain dormant in an unforeseen place, waiting in silence. Then, at an unpredictable moment, it germinates once more, revealing life as a continuous process of transformation, persistence, and return.
Perhaps seeds dream, too. In their long dormancy, they may imagine other forms, other blooms, other colors. Perhaps a dill seed dreams of flowering beyond its own nature—of becoming a field of impossible colors.
