The artwork portrays the development of humanity through time as an illusion of progress that, in reality, leads to an increasing entrapment within systems of our own creation. These systems, originally intended to make life easier, now often define and restrict us. In this way, the piece also suggests a form of regression, a gradual loss of freedom beneath the appearance of advancement.
