The biblical story of the angel's Annunciation to Maria and the message that she would conceive the Son of God is a central belief of the Christian faith.
The Immaculate Conception is a dogma of the Catholic faith and is regarded by many believers as an indisputable truth.
However, when viewed through the lens of contemporary issues regarding "fake news"—and perhaps with a touch of irony—this concept might be called into question.
To what extent have false information or interpretations been disseminated? Which sources are trustworthy? Upon which teachings and traditions does the Church base its authority? Ultimately, it is upon each individual to distinguish truth from false and to ground their judgment and faith upon a firm foundation.
