Female:
An emotional response to the time I was recovering from a hysterectomy due to chronic endometriosis. A time when I was trying to come to terms with what it meant to be female, to live it, to endure, to rejoice.
When you look closer, it reveals a female torso, hip, belly, ribs… it has texture to give it a tactile element, burnt browns and rich ochres to depict flesh, muscle, form.
This piece is one of a series which tackles various aspects of my life, the good the bad and the ugly. It doesn’t hold back. It’s painted in acrylics and mixed medium on canvas, matt varnish protected. I’m so proud of this personal piece, it’s an original, a one off, just like me.. so proud I will never be quite the same.
