Golden PinUp

In Golden PinUP, I combine glamour and vulnerability to reflect on how beauty and strength often exist alongside imperfection. The figure stands confident and iconic, reminiscent of classic pin-up imagery, yet her body is surrounded by the golden surface that appears precious but is intentionally disrupted.
The gold leaf suggests value, desire, and idealization, the way we often perceive beauty. But through the removed areas, the bright colors of the peace flag emerge, reminding us that identity and humanity are layered, complex, and shaped by diversity. The cracks in the gold symbolize emotional depth and lived experience. What may appear flawless from afar reveals stories and color beneath the surface.
By merging Pop Art boldness with the softness of old master glazing in the dress and accessories, I create a dialogue between surface and depth. For me, the work speaks about self-worth beyond perfection, about embracing visible and invisible scars.
