“I Love You Dad” speaks about a child’s longing for a lost or distant father. Seen through a rain-covered window, the painting shows fragile figures drawn on the glass, while a solitary father figure stands beyond it - present, yet unreachable.
The work does not offer one fixed story. For one viewer, the father may be a memory of someone who has died. For another, he may be someone who left, was forced away, or is absent because of work, distance, conflict, or silence. The window becomes a boundary between love and separation, childhood and loss, memory and reality.
Through muted colours, blurred forms, and simple childlike lines, the painting invites each viewer to find their own story within it - a story of absence, longing, love, and the words that remain: “I love you, Dad.”
