Botanical Contours - Painting
All these artworks are part of my installation: Upcycled Wheel
This painting has been painted on the back of a poster by the Ministry of the environment. I saw some people taking these posters down, and I asked to take two of them. Since these posters are about trees and the environment, I wanted to recycle them. A photo of the poster is given below.

I took less than a quarter of the poster, and painted abstract botanical forms on them, which include some landscape features as well. The forms explore the fact that there is no straight line in nature. (This contrasts with the rigid lines of the Eifel tower, for example in Spirals of Industry). Also, since nature isn’t shy about exploding with all shades of colours especially flowers in summer, the hues used in this painting show that.
Note: this is the first time that I’ve painted on a plastic surface, and so it was a new experience for me. This is a draft, and I could add more elements to it.
The size of this painting is 87x55cm. (This is about ¼ of the poster).
In case I get a bigger installation space, I could paint on the back of an entire poster, and the size would be about 180x120cm. Alternatively, I could paint 2-3 more paintings by dividing up the poster into smaller parts. That depends on how many paintings / photos I can hang on 3 sides of the installation space.
Perhaps we’ll need permission from the Ministry of the Environment in Luxembourg to use the back side of their poster.
