This one is a part of my series of paintings called Larksome, showing playful femninine figures which are actually sculptures I came across during my walks in Warsaws many parks. It recalls many archetypal associations : Woman/Nature, Woman/Child, the myth of Pygmalion, Eve in the Garden etc., while being open to interpratations and inspiring imagination. There is a mystery here, a force of nature, a sense of the uncanny and a life in an artificial object.. There is an intensity to the forms, a sensuality, a pulsating rythm. It shows my interest in searching for beauty and the extraordinary aspects of everyday life, in balancing on the edge of nature and culture, tradition and modern times, transgressing different dimentions. I paint motives that I find ,,here and now’’, but they could belong to a different time and place. I look at the world with intensity and attention looking for meanings hidden under the surfaces of what seems to be mundane, ordinary.
