My fascination with bare and gnarled tree limbs was the inspiration for this piece. The limbs' convergence in areas speaks to me of the mysterious and otherworldly. I feel as though this would be a perfect backdrop for a Gothic mystery. I have rendered the endless variation of tree limbs for many years, and I hope their dreamlike atmosphere is expressed to the viewer.
