Pulse Beneath explores a state of internal pressure held beneath the surface. The composition is dense and layered, with a network of linear marks and disruptions that suggest movement contained rather than released. Subtle shifts of colour emerge through the darker field, as if signals are forming within the depth of the painting.
Working with oil and cold wax, the surface develops through repeated layering, where each stage leaves a partial trace. Earlier gestures remain embedded, creating a sense of accumulation and latent energy. Rather than resolving into a clear image, Pulse Beneath holds a suspended state, where tension persists and continues to build beneath the visible surface.
