This artwork is part of a series born from a profound process of physical and emotional reconstruction following a near-fatal accident in 2000, which left the artist with third-degree burns over 50% of his body. Using latex on panel, the artist explores the concept of "skin" not merely as a surface, but as a living archive of trauma, healing, and resilience.
The latex mimics the fragility of grafts and the visceral texture of scars, while the wooden support represents the strength and permanence of the body. Spanning over twenty-five years of recovery, the piece transforms a personal tragedy into a universal affirmation of life. It stands as a powerful meditation on the passage of time and the spiritual maturity found in the act of continuous healing, framing the wound as a bridge toward a new, resilient identity.
