Medusa was killed by the hero Perseus, who, with the help of gifts from the gods, approached her while looking only at her reflection in a polished shield and then severed her head. When Perseus severed the head of Medusa, the world expected only death. Instead, from her divine blood sprang two extraordinary beings: Pegasus, the winged horse destined to soar among the stars, and Chrysaor, the golden warrior born with strength and glory in his hands. In that single moment, tragedy became creation, and darkness gave birth to wonder. Their birth remains one of the most powerful symbols in Greek mythology: that even from destruction, beauty and greatness can emerge.
