The work is created on a wooden panel by engraving the drawing. The engravings allow natural light and shadow to be brought to a flat surface, strengthening and enhancing the drawing itself and creating a further textured effect.
It depicts the blossoming of a magnolia tree. The purpose is purely decorative. It's spring, the colors explode vividly, and nature feels the warmth of the sun. It's taken from "real life," like all my works in the series I call "Naturaliter." A tribute to life, to the beauty that blooms again after the winter months.
