The painting portrays the artist together with close friends who now live in different countries and rarely share the same physical space. Gathered around one table, the figures exist in an imagined proximity, a desired reality constructed through painting itself.
Although the women appear together, a subtle distance remains between them. This distance is not emotional but physical, shaped by borders, migration, time, and separation imposed by the external world. The work becomes an attempt to momentarily overcome these divisions and preserve an impossible gathering as if it were real.
Soap bubbles drifting through the composition introduce a fragile and temporary element, suggesting the instability of memory, presence, and human connection. Existing within a liminal space between reality and projection, the painting explores longing, absence, and the fragile desire for reunion.
