Formally, 'Vincit....' is a multimedia installation which employs an amalgamation of different materials and symbols to evoke both historical monumentality and contemporary fragility that engages with Ovid's Narcissus Myth. It is a living monument to the unconscious self which has been externally corrupted. Thus, the installation presents a state of unrest, inviting reflection and introspection that dialectically engages with the proverb 'Vincit qui se vincit'.
Is Narcissus the final product that the monolithic beginning has left to give; an effigy of pride spewed by the rusted metallic temple that threatens to reabsorb its own creation. In an evergrowing digital world when clarity is politicized, cleanliness is commodified, and every cut leaves a scar, 'Vincit....' asks what it means to be in a society increasingly falling in love with its own reflection.
