This work was completed using my own photographs as reference while holidaying at Phillip Island in Victoria. It had been a stormy night but the morning sunrise was incredible. The full moon was beginning to fade, but was still clearly visible. It took many hours to capture the image in paint as I remembered it and although the sunrise was fleeting when the sky darkened again with rain, I felt so fortunate to have produced a work which had created such a strong memory of a special time. It is essential to me to have my work connect emotionally with the viewer and convey my own passion for the subject, and this is what inspires me as an artist.
